Dominican Republic:Temporary Residence Applicants Need Police Clearance Documents

As of March 5th 2010, any foreign nationals applying for temporary residence status in the Dominican Republic must produce a criminal background report or police clearance certificate along with all other documentation. The police clearance or criminal background report must be legalized and apostilled in the applicant’s country of normal residence.

The new requirements apply to all pending applications, including those filed before the new law came into effect.
