USA: Visa Waiver Programme Open to Greek Citizens
On the 9th March Greece became a member of the US Visa Waiver Programme (VWP). From the 5th April 2010 citizens of Greece can make short tourist or business trips to the US using the programme…..being eligible to stay for up to 90 days without the need to apply for a B1/B2 visa from an American consulate.
To use the VWP, Greek citizens must hold an “e-Passport” – those that contain an integrated computer chip that stores the traveller’s biographic data and digital photograph. Like all VWP travellers, Greek citizens must also obtain an approval to travel from the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) before departing for the United States. ESTA applications should be submitted online at least 72 hours before travelling.( https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/ )
