Egypt: Muslin interest in Darwin?
Despite the fact that less than 10% of Egyptians think Darwin’s Theory of Evolution is true, the great work, 150 years old in 2009, has been translated into Arabic by Dr. Magdi Meligui a professor of dermatology at Ain Shams University, Cairo.
Whilst the original ‘Origin of Species averages about 550 pages, the Arabic version, with footnotes and appendix runs at double that.
Desert Gigolo
Prostitution is illegal in nearly all of the United States but is legal in parts of the western state of Nevada, though not in its most famous city, Las Vegas. Nevada has now gone one step further by employing its first male prostitute, a college drop out called ‘Markus’.
The Shady Lady brothel, just outside Beatty, a Nevada desert town, has received huge interest in the state’s first legal gigolo. Markus though, has already received criticism from female prostitutes for his unwillingness to service male clients.
Argentinian Banking Woes
Argentinian discontent with their government has extended to their bank accounts, and they are moving their savings to neighbouring Uruguay in increasing numbers. There has been a 20% increase in non resident bank (mostly Argentinian) accounts being set up in the country, totalling 2.957 billion US dollars by the end of 2009.
